The Fish Hub partners, comprised of The Nature Conservancy, Cape Cod Fisheries Trust, Cape Cod Commercial Hook Fishermen’s Association, Community Development Partnership, Amplifier Strategies and Amplifier Catalyst, takes your privacy very seriously. To the fullest extent possible, the Fish Hub partners have sought to prevent any undesired identity or personal information exposure. At the same time, however, as an online community, Fish Hub facilitates the communication and exchange of certain identity characteristics and personal information. This section aims to clarify the privacy and security you may expect within the context of Fish Hub. By using Fish Hub and visiting the Website, you are accepting the policies described in this Privacy and Security Policy. We reserve the right to change the provisions of this Policy at any time. We will alert you that changes have been made by indicating on the Policy the date it was last updated. We encourage you to review this Policy from time to time to make sure that you understand how any personal information you provide will be used.

Your Personal Information

You may explore Fish Hub without registering, thereby conducting yourself anonymously, with the understanding that a reduced set of features may be accessible to you. However, to gain access to a fuller range of the site’s functionality, you must register, providing personally identifiable information (“PII”), including but not limited to, your name, email address, username and password. As this is an online community designed to facilitate collaboration within fishing communities, some information you post or share becomes available to other registered users and the general public alike. Your Marketing Page is public, and your profile, direct messages, and posts on the fisherman feed may be seen by other registered users. Any information you enter in the Boat Plan or in the QuotaX applications remain private unless you decide to share read-only copies of your information with a certain user or users.

Protecting your information online

We take reasonable measures designed to protect your personal information in an effort to prevent loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Please be aware, however, that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable and no method of data transmission that can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. To protect the confidentiality of personal information, you must keep your password confidential and not disclose it to any other person. You are responsible for all uses of our web site by any person using your password. Please advise us immediately if you believe your password has been misused.


Access to Fish Hub communities is through 256bit SSL ( Secure Socket Layer ) connections. All traffic between a visitor’s web browser and Fish Hub is encrypted to minimize the risk of interception and inspection of data being input or received.

Permissions System

Fish Hub has a built-in permissions system. User data that is of a personal or confidential business nature is secured from access by other users without explicit permission of the author.

Private Files

Fish Hub supports a private filesystem. Files stored via this system are not directly accessible via a URL. Access requires membership in the same Fish Hub community and explicit permission from the file owner.

Off-site backup

Fish Hub data is backed up daily to encrypted storage. This includes both file uploads and database.

Data Security

Fish Hub can facilitate analysis of your NOAA Data and provide alerts where the data seems out of the normal range. Access to NOAA data is through your NOAA credentials. Your credentials can be used one time or in an ongoing manner where they are stored encrypted in Fish Hub. You control the access to your data and can turn off the collection at any time.
